The storage system of Allround Storage is set up in such a way that outside air is used to cool the product whenever necessary. However, in some conditions this is
not feasible. For this Allround Storage provides the Compact Cooling Machine system. These units can be easily installed and integrated in an existing system. Only first class components like Bitzer compressors and Danfoss applications are used. Only cooling gasses are used with the lowest GWP values.
The Compact Cooling Machine is a system with two parts. The Compact Cooling Machine unit is a compact machine with inbuilt compressor / condenser unit, including heat exchanger and pump for the second water based circuit. The cooling unit will be placed outside. The second part, the air coolers are inside the rooms. The air cooler circuit is water based; glycol or temper can be added in case of very low temperatures.
Important features
All mechanical cooling components are in the first circuit only, in the chiller outside, in a very compact way. A minimum of cooling gas can be used; the combination of a minimum amount of cooling gas and a low GWP value will give the best environmental friendly footprint.
No tubes with refrigerant in the food storage sections.
Because of water based evaporators, the temperature difference in the evaporator can be adjusted perfectly according the use. With a very low temperature difference dehydration of the product will be prevented, with a high temperature difference the same system can be used for products what will need low relative humidity.

All kind of stored agricultural products are sensitive for too high CO2 levels. Too high CO2 levels can affect the quality of the product. For example during storage of industrial potatoes, high CO2 levels can affect the frying quality. In systems where a lot of outside air is used, it is not so difficult to control the CO2 level. In hot climates, or very cold climates where use of outside air is limited, a CO2 heat exchanger will be the best solution. In warm climates outside air cannot be applied directly since this will cause an increase of the product temperature. With the help of a heat-exchanger the extracted cold air from the storage room with high CO2 level is applied to pre-cool the warm outside air with low CO2 level. In this way energy savings up to 90% can be achieved.

Agricultural products like potatoes and carrots need to be stored under quite humid conditions. Especially in dry climates it is necessary to add moisture to the air. For this application Allround has developed a high-pressure pump system which is able to humidify the air with droplets which are about 5, 5 ?m (1/1000 millimetre, or micron) in diameter on average. This provides the store with the necessary humidity.

When storing potatoes or onions in bulk, the product is placed amass up to 3,5 to 4,5 meters high depending on the products and the conditions. This system is highly effective because it is a direct ventilation system which means that 100% of the air distribution is forced through the product. As the name suggests, with box storage the products are stored in large bins. The product is stacked up to about 6 boxes high. Box storage is a very flexible way to store agricultural products. It is a perfect system to separate all de different products, varieties, sizes and qualities. The standard European size for boxes is 1200 mm x 1600 mm x 1230 mm.
Direct pressure system
Direct pressure system with closed boxes is a direct system, what means that 100 % of the conditioned air is forced to pass the product. The pressure system for boxes is a relative expensive system because the use of (expensive) specially designed closed boxes and the system needs lots of space. This pressure system for closed boxes will mainly be used as a drying system for onions, garlic and flower bulbs. It is also used in areas with lot of rain during harvest.

Direct aspiration system
The aspire system for open boxes is also a direct ventilation system. The air in the room is conditioned and then sucked through the boxes. All kinds of standard open boxes can be used for this system. It is quite a flexible system because product can be dried and conditioned in the same place with the same system.

Indirect room ventilation system
With indirect room ventilation the room air will be conditioned and through natural convection the air will pass the product. The indirect room ventilation system for open boxes is the most flexible box system. It doesn’t matter in what way the boxes are placed in the room, different sizes of boxes can be used, even for short time different products can be stored in same room. Especially for daily fluctuating demand room ventilation system is very flexible. Wet product cannot be dried effectively with a room ventilation system, so products which have to be dried after harvest should be dried in an direct system before it will be put in the room ventilation storage.
